MARTIAL ARTS

John Disimone began his martial arts training at a young age. Dabbling in various striking arts for many years, it was not until 1989 when he was introduced to Aikido that he dedicated himself to one style.  In the beginning of 1990 he began training within the International Fugakukai Aikido & Judo Association headed by Shihan Karl Geis.  John was introduced to Judo while a part of the association due to the connection between Judo and Tomiki Ryu Aikido.

Since that time John has been awarded the rank of Godan, (5th degree black belt), in Judo and awarded the rank of Godan, (5th degree black belt), in Aikido.  He is also a Level II Certified Coach and National Rank Examiner with the United States Judo Association, (USJA), and holds the rank of Faixa Marron, (brown belt), in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  John has been an active competitive athlete in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for years and has competed on a local, regional, national, and international level.  He has also acted as a coach and manager for our athletes active in the MMA world.

John's experience with kettlebells has bettered all of his martial arts training.  Cofounder and Senior Instructor of the MKC, his kettlebell training and expertise constantly spill over into his own as well as others' training in every program Maxercise has to offer.

KETTLEBELLS IN HIS OWN WORDS

I started as Steve Maxwell's first guinea pig in the use of Kettlebells. As a competitive athlete, Steve was not just one of my first BJJ coaches, but also my strength coach. We used to do all kinds of workouts, pushing the limits of the human body, within reason, though the measurement of reason we used may be questionable. So, I really began kettlebell training when Steve did.

Shortly thereafter Steve began a kettlebell class not just the use of kettlebells, but various body weight exercises as well. I began my schooling of class environments at that time. The structure, the linking of techniques, the flow, the rhythm of the room - taking into consideration your strongest and weakest student. It was genius. After my first certification, (2003), I began teaching my own classes and got a lot of hands on training on how to run a class properly. I traveled with Steve to assist in many seminars and workshops. I was asked to be an assistant at the first European RKC in Copenhagen. There I received my level II certification. I have since traveled to Iceland and other parts of the world with Steve, both continuing my own education and educating those interested in the way of the kettlebell system.

Why am I someone to help certify new teachers?

I was at the ground floor of the Kettlebell revolution in this country over 8 years ago. I have continued my education in what has become our own, unique kettlebell system and the application of that system to all people, regardless of physical ability. I have traveled all over the US and the world with Steve Maxwell and Steve Cotter in continuing my education and the education of others in our kettlebell system. I currently own Maxercise, the nation's first kettlebell gym, in which we currently conduct over 500 classes a year, with me teaching 75% of those classes. I am constantly being challenged with new students and how to conduct a class with multiple levels of ability and knowledge and have been successful in all of this.

I now want to share my knowledge, educating others of our kettlebell system and passing along the benefits for all to have.
